 | Saturday, June 8th, 2019: 5-5 Day for Wayt! If the Cooperstown Legends know how best to pitch the Maui center fielder Brenton Wayt they didn't tip their hand today. Instead Wayt showed he knew how best to hit them as he easily handled Legends pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Monsoon to a 6-2 triumph at Monsoon Stadium. He told SION reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball." The Cooperstown skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we may just do that...blindfold him...and then pitch him differently, just to be sure." B. Wayt singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Year-to-date in 59 games Wayt has compiled a .317 batting average with 79 hits and 8 home runs. He has also scored 42 times and knocked in 28 runs. |
